Dance

Veritas is committed to fostering a love for dance and providing students with

opportunities to explore the joy of movement through various dance programs and

events.

Dance at Veritas encompasses a diverse range of styles and experiences, including

our annual Colonial Ball held each Christmas and our prestigious high school

formal event, Chrysalis. These events not only showcase students' talents but also

provide a platform for them to express themselves, celebrate traditions, and create

lasting memories through the art of dance.

Today, the Yemelianov’s visit our campus twice a year to continue the tradition of dance and prepare our students for the two big dances hosted each year: The Veritas Colonial Ball and the High School Chrysalis. Additionally, Veritas has been privileged to have had Master Dance Instructor Mr. Lou Vosteen of the Williamsburg Heritage Dancers, as well as Larry “Corky” Palmer, scholar and 18th century dance instructor, Gadsby’s Tavern in Old Town Alexander, VA.

Integral Role of Dance in Classical Education

In a classical education setting that values truth, beauty, and goodness, dance plays a fundamental role in enriching students' experiences and nurturing the soul. Dance, with its emphasis on movement, expression, and artistry, embodies the principles of beauty and harmony that are at the core of classical ideals. Through dance, students learn the importance of discipline, focus, and self-expression, all of which are essential components of a well-rounded education.
