ATHLETICS
Athletics are a core component of classical education. In fact, the ancient Greeks believed that physical fitness and intellectual training were inseparable. Here at Veritas Collegiate Academy, our athletic program is designed to complement our academic program. By participating in athletics, students get the opportunity to be a part of something larger than themselves. The experience of practicing, competing, winning, and losing cultivates discipline and builds character.

Junior Varsity and Varsity Sports
Volleyball
The girls' volleyball team at Veritas Collegiate Academy is a vibrant community, featuring a squad of dedicated athletes. This season, the team has shown remarkable growth, with players demonstrating improved skills and stronger cohesion on the court. Their perseverance has inspired pride at Veritas.
Swimming
The swim team at Veritas is a close community. Bonding together on the bus by singing along to the radio, and cheering for each other at meets until their throats are sore, the swimmers on the Veritas team exemplify joy and encouragement. Swimmers of all levels are welcome to grow under the guidance of our knowledgeable coach.
Tennis
At Veritas, we are blessed to be just a few blocks from the tennis courts at Virginia Highland Park, so our tennis team can walk to practice. Players of all experience levels learn from each other and enjoy each other's company, while improving their tennis skills at practice and testing their skills at matches.
Wrestling
The wrestling team at Veritas Collegiate Academy, though small in size, is fiercely competitive and a standout in the school's athletic lineup. With intense training sessions and a packed schedule of matches, the wrestlers demonstrate exceptional skill and tenacity. Guided by dedicated coaching, this tight-knit squad consistently delivers strong performances, making them a source of pride and inspiration for the Veritas community.
Golf
Set to begin in Spring 2026. This exciting initiative has already garnered significant interest from students and families, reflecting the community's enthusiasm for expanding athletic opportunities. The program will offer professional coaching, access to top-tier facilities, and a focus on developing both skill and sportsmanship. Designed to cater to players of all levels, the golf program aims to foster a passion for the sport while promoting teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.
Shooting
We have been able to secure the opportunity for our students to partake in shooting competitions in conjunction with the Isaak Walton league. This opportunity is available to upper schoolers. For more information please email our AD wmiles@veritasca.com.
Sailing
A committed parent at Veritas has been able to secure the opportunity for our students to partake in sailing competitions in conjunction with the Sea Scouts. This opportunity is available to upper schoolers. For more information please email our AD wmiles@veritasca.com. The sailing club combines hands-on seamanship, teamwork, and competitive racing on the Potomac and beyond.
Fencing

The drill team and honor guard at Veritas Collegiate Academy is a disciplined and proud group that regularly performs at local ceremonies, showcasing precision and respect. Through rigorous training, members master intricate routines and ceremonial protocols, representing the school with dignity.
